Celebrating everyday detail at The Design Museum in Shad Thames

The first time I visited The Design Museum I felt like I had come home. It’s a place dedicated to celebrating the design of everyday objects and products, and an absolute joy in my book as I’ve always found inspiration in the everyday detail of life. It’s refreshing to ponder over utilitarian art as opposed to high art sometimes, and for me, a visit to The Design Museum is a hugely positive, energising and inspirational experience. My most recent trip was a wonderful trip down memory lane with the Kenwood Chefette, Kodak cameras and Parker pens all part of Kenneth Grange’s exhibition of products.

Another great reason to visit is the fantastic shop – a place for all your gift needs. They also sell lots of cutting edge homeware pieces which are generally stocked here before they reach other retail outlets. Then of course there’s the lovely Blueprint Café with its fantastic views across the Thames, and very reasonable lunch prices, especially if you book through Top Table and get a discount!
